Daniel Kindberg, 56, lives with a looming prison sentence over him.

The former Östersunds pamp makes a living on borrowed money.

– All costs caught up, he says in an interview with Jämtland Podcast.

Daniel Kindberg was chairman of Östersunds FK during the successful years between 2010 and 2018 before everything fell apart.

The city’s strongman was charged with extensive financial crime, including gross disloyalty to the principal and serious accounting offences. In 2019, he was sentenced to three years in prison only to be acquitted on all counts two years later by a unanimous appeals court.

“Mental Prison”

But on June 23, 2022, Kindberg was again sentenced in another criminal case to a 30-month prison sentence for aggravated bribery, aiding and abetting serious accounting crimes and aiding and abetting aggravated tax control.

He was also sentenced to pay the state the SEK 5,545,000 he received in bribes. Kindberg appealed to the Court of Appeal and is still waiting for the outcome.

Barely six years after the first sentence, the 56-year-old, former professional officer, today lives a hidden life.

– I have been in a mental prison for about six years. It’s starting to take… It’s hard from time to time mentally, he says in an interview with Jämtland Podcast.

“It’s a little hard”

Kindberg goes on to say that today he supports himself on borrowed money.

– I borrow and live on it, that’s how I got to live. In the beginning, I was able to take off a little of what I had myself. Then all the costs caught up. And for me, they became huge because I paid lawyers privately to get the right side of this. It’s a little hard. I devote myself to household chores and then I have a few small projects that I poke at. It’s not a very meaningful life I have in that way if I compare it to the 50 years before this, he says.

Today, Daniel Kindberg has nothing to do with Östersunds FK. The fact is that he is very critical of the activities conducted at Jämtkraft Arena.

– They stand still and slowly sink. There is nothing left of ideas and thoughts, organization and structure. You are just like any other club, only a little worse. You play in the super league.
