Police in South Yorkshire are investigating television footage in which a man is seen biting a young boy’s ear as seven-time snooker world champion Stephen Hendry was interviewed by the BBC, the Daily Mail reports.
The incident took place in connection with the WC in Sheffield where Hendry spoke during a break in the game. In the background, over his left shoulder, the bizarre scenes unfolded.
A man appears to whisper into a young boy’s ear before nibbling on it. Their relationship is unknown. However, the boy did not look particularly bothered but smiled and waved at the camera.
Spokesperson: “Is a police matter”
It was the viewers, however, who were disgusted by what they saw in front of them. Many were outraged and expressed their disgust on social media.
A spokesperson for the World Snooker Tour has said they are “aware of the incident and that it is now a police matter”, as confirmed by Sheffield Police.
The clip has been viewed over twelve million times and has received more than 58,000 likes on X.
