Kalmar FF had a blast on Saturday when they defeated BK Häcken at Bravida Arena. For the 0-1 goal, Carl Gustafsson was noted for an assist.

However, he could have left Kalmar last winter already. According to Sportbladet’s information, Malmö FF wanted to sign the midfielder last winter, something he accepted after the victory against Häcken.

– Malmö is a good club, but it was never really interesting to me. The goal has always been to play abroad for me, he tells the newspaper and continues:

– Jag said early on that it was not relevant. I enjoy Kalmar FF very much, I like the players and the friends I have here, the people around the club. I have a good dialogue with our sporting director, Jörgen Petersson.

According to the newspaper’s information, there is great interest in Gustafsson abroad. Clubs following him are reported to be AZ, Club Brugge, Fiorentina, Ajax and Eintracht Frankfurt and the 23-year-old’s contract with KFF expires after the current season.

– It is up to me to prove what level I am in order to reach the goal of coming abroad, he says.
