And doesn’t flow as well, says Digital Foundry.

Grounded on Playstation 5 both flows and looks worse than the Xbox Series X version. That’s the conclusion drawn by tech enthusiasts Digital Foundry when they took a closer look at the recent PS5 version.

There is also a trial watch Grounded to Switch, which also has problems (but more expected in this case). The dynamic resolution of the PS5 is weaker than the Series X diton; between 1080p and 1215p versus 1512p and 4K. According to Digital Foundry, this is definitely not noticeable in the flow. Rather the opposite. The game dips to 50 (sometimes 45) fps while on the Xbox Series X it rolls at a stable 60 fps.

In terms of effects and texture quality, the mode is largely equivalent. However, the PS5 has better “geometry LOD”, which means that objects are loaded from a longer distance. The shadows on the PS5 seem to be of a higher quality, and this is where we think the explanation may lie as to why the consoles perform differently.

However, one is not completely sure. It also remains to be seen what patches can do.

Aiming for the Switch Grounded at 30 fps and standard resolution in docked mode is 600p. Perhaps not unexpected as consoles are old and clearly weaker. See more from the test in the video or read here.
