Microsoft has announced that it will streamline the monthly software updates for the Windows 10 operating system by reducing their sizes. The updates will be around 20 percent less.

The latest Windows 10 update, which was released on April 23, was 650 MB, while the previous update was 830 MB. It’s not about huge file sizes, but in the roughly 18 remaining months of support for Windows 10, around 3.5 GB will still be saved.

Microsoft managed to reduce the size of the updates by, among other things, being more efficient in the packaging of the files in the updates. Microsoft has already previously fixed the updates to the Windows 11 operating system in the same way, when the size of the updates shrank by 40 percent.
