Peruvian police have seized 58 one-kilo packages of cocaine that had an image of a Nazi flag on the outside and the name Hitler in relief.
The drug was hidden in a shipping container with asparagus and was found on board a Liberian-flagged ship in the port of Paita in northern Peru. The shipment was destined for a port in Belgium, according to the police report.
Peruvian authorities have previously reported finding cocaine in brick-shaped packages with various symbols, but never with any Nazi Germany flag.
Peru is the world’s second largest grower of coca leaves and the world’s second largest producer of cocaine, according to the US Federal Drug Enforcement Administration. Much is smuggled to Europe by sea, but small planes also transport cocaine to Bolivia, for further transport to ports in the Atlantic.
