Japanese police have arrested a person suspected of killing four people, including two police officers, in the city of Nakano in Japan, local media reports.

Witnesses tell Japanese media of a perpetrator dressed in head-to-toe camouflage, who was also masked and wearing sunglasses.

The perpetrator stabbed his victims with a large knife, before shooting two male police officers with a hunting rifle. He was arrested after he barricaded himself for several hours in a house in the city, which is located in the central Nagano prefecture, Kyodo news agency reports.

The man was arrested after he barricaded himself for several hours in a house that belonged to his father.

On Friday, police announced that the fourth person, an elderly woman who was found injured at the scene, also died.

Residents in the area were asked to stay at home and nearby schools kept students indoors during the police operation.
