It is not too late for Ukraine to defeat Russia, says NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg – as long as Ukraine’s allies fulfill their promises to supply more weapons.

– In recent months, NATO allies have not provided the support we have promised, Stoltenberg says in a speech during a visit to Berlin.

But more support is now on the way, he announces, noting the large American support package worth the equivalent of more than 650 billion Swedish kronor that was recently approved by both Congress and by President Joe Biden.

The UK, Germany and the Netherlands have also announced additional aid.

Stoltenberg’s statements come after a longer period of difficulties on the Ukrainian front, where a lack of weapons, ammunition and soldiers led to setbacks against Russia.

The White House warned on Wednesday of the risk that Russia will soon gain more ground.

“It is entirely possible that Russia could make further tactical advances in the coming weeks,” said US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

The promises of more aid to Ukraine must be quickly converted into actual deliveries, says Stoltenberg in Berlin.
