STT has reached the chairman of the True Finns Riikka Purra who states that she “is very shocked by the situation” and that “the situation is very serious”. Purra tells STT that the party has not been able to reach the Member of Parliament during Friday.

Purra tells Yle that her understanding is that Vornanen would have fired, but emphasizes that her information is preliminary.

In place in the plenum that went into the night

Vornanen was born in 1969, from Joensuu and a member of parliament in his first term. His civilian profession is a policeman.

On his website, he writes that he mainly worked in field assignments within the police. From the age of 15, he has been hunting, according to the site.

According to the Riksdag’s roll call report, he was present in the plenary session on Thursday. The plenary went on well into the night, until 02.

It is not clear when a Member of Parliament may leave the chamber, but Vornanen himself made an update on Facebook on Thursday evening that the clock was approaching 11 p.m. and that it was starting to be time to retire and go to bed.

Seiska writes that the sequence of events must have started at Bar Ihku on Anttigatan, not far from the Riksdag House, in the center of Helsinki.

According to Seiska, two members of the Riksdag must have been involved. According to Seiska, the shooting itself must have taken place when the two left the nightclub.
