The police fired a warning shot in connection with the arrest of suspicious persons in Södertälje on Friday evening.

– It was around 20:20 that the police received a call from a caller who saw people walking past a residence with weapon-like objects on them, says police spokesperson Rebecca Landberg.

When the police arrived at the scene, the people were still in the area.

– In the event of a confrontation, the police choose to fire a warning shot, says Landberg, who cannot answer what prompted the police’s assessment.

Two young men have been arrested and are suspected of weapons offences. The police cannot answer whether the men were carrying weapons at the time of the arrest, but findings have been made at the scene.

No one has been injured.

The place is cordoned off for a technical investigation and the police are searching the area with a dog.
