Anyone who wants a certain brand of beer, wine or spirits for the weekend or next week can do best to hurry to Systembolaget. Dagens Industri reports that one of the company’s major suppliers, the logistics firm Skanlog, has been hit by an extortion attack from a hacker group in North Korea.

The attack has completely knocked out Skanlog’s distribution system and until the company gets it up and running again, it will not be able to make any deliveries. Systembolaget’s press officer Teodor Almqvist tells Aftonbladet that it is about a quarter of the total sales volume that is affected and that some goods will sell out within the next few days.

– At the moment, the total supply is not affected to any great extent, but it depends on when the distribution can start again. We don’t know that right now.

Systembolaget does not expect any more far-reaching impact on the availability of customers’ favorite brands, as there are crisis plans and alternative distributors who can step in if Skanlog does not get their systems up and running within a reasonable time.

Systembolaget does not reveal which brands and varieties are involved, but the problem is not geographically limited but applies to all stores in the country and all kinds of drinks.
