Richard Flinck dying of cancer – Thorsten Flinck’s brother says: “Hope to be able to fool the shit” | Pleasure

On Tuesday, the third season of “The reunion” was released, where Sigge Eklund tries to get his childhood friends, former media entrepreneur Richard Flinck, 63, and actor Thorsten Flinck, 63, to reunite.

But in the podcast, it all takes a difficult turn when Richard Flinck tells us that he was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2023.

– I was in Stockholm and then I just collapsed in a green area and had to go by ambulance from there. Then I was hospitalized, he says in “Aterföreningen”.

Days later, in the hospital, Richard Flinck was told that he has cancer in his lungs and that his liver is completely destroyed.

– It was a death sentence he read out, no one survives that, what they were talking about was not that you should have a long life, but that if you’re really damn lucky, you can get by for a few years or two more years, but everything points to two weeks.

“It will be a devilish pain”

The podcast was recorded in mid-February and in the last episode Richard Flinck is admitted to the hospital.

Even Thorsten Flinck has just been hospitalized after problems with his heart.

At the end of February, Richard Flinck underwent surgery.

– I have started to realize late that I have been very afraid. I didn’t realize how scared I was, but I’m starting to realize it now. I have a lot to gain if these operations go well. Then I will get my life back in the time I have left. And I’m really looking forward to that, he says in the podcast.

Thorsten Flinck says that he has known that the twin brother has been ill for a long time, but that he received the news about the illness from his partner Daniella Karlsson.

– I remember Daniella telling me that she had spoken to Richard and I fell down on the street and couldn’t breathe. It was horrible.

Richard Flinck: “One can only hope”

It has now been two months since the podcast was recorded and Richard Flinck tells Expressen that he is still hospitalized.

– I should have had an operation for cancer a month or so ago, but I was too weak then. So now I’m trying to recover so that I’ll be healthy enough for an operation or two operations, he says.

He explains that it is difficult to determine whether he is on the road to recovery. It goes up and down. He says that it takes a toll on his mood and that he finds it difficult to keep his morale up.

How do you see the future?

– I don’t know, but I probably have to be very humble about it. When we were recording, I was told that I had about two months left. But it’s been six months. So I hope you can fool the shit.

He continues:

– The staff at the hospital wouldn’t be very surprised and drop their jaws if I died last night. So the odds are not that great. But you just have to hope and do the little you can.
