The principle of first-come, first-served has made the applications for the government production support for films a battle for seconds.
Tillväxtverket states that “there are now signs” that some use technical aids such as scripts and bots to be faster in the application process and thus be able to get money, Kulturnytt in Sveriges Radio states.
Last fall, it took 10 minutes for the first applications to come in. Last spring it took 53 seconds.
– Even if you are super quick with your fingers, you don’t have time to fill in, there are many fields to fill in, there are attachments. It’s completely impossible, says Erik Magnusson, producer at the production company Anagram, which makes the TV series “The Thin Blue Line”.
The production support of SEK 100 million is given to production companies that place the recordings in Sweden instead of abroad.
– It’s a fiasco, if you don’t have the technical solutions, it’s almost useless to search. It’s a battle of seconds, says Erik Magnusson.
