Do you want to paint your nails red, cut and color an asymmetrical women’s hairstyle and surprise those around you with combinations and patterns you’ve never worn before? Match the nails with a short scarlet jacket?
Do you want to sit stiffly like a mannequin while the stylists answer the host’s questions stupidly – over your head? Do you want to renounce the possibility of seeing the result until the end of the program when the full-length mirror is turned in your direction and the host asks how you feel? All while the cameras are rolling?
Well, in that case, Go’kväll’s segment “Gör om me” might be something for you.
Long fine hair is cut into hairstyles that look like wigs. Layer upon layer of one garment after another from some obscure designer. Belts are tightened, bags are hung, matches are modeled with the keywords “cool”, “tough”, “trendy”.
– I don’t recognize myself, says one of the latest women who has just escaped from the clutches of the Go’kväll stylists.
Thank god for that. Many who have just met their new self in the mirror resort to the “naughty” short hairstyle to feel what has just gone for nothing. Trying to see anything at all through the window glasses in the new frames with “attitude”.
But the idea is for viewers to recognize themselves and get a payoff. Get a real surprise every Thursday. So far the scheme is successful, but it’s as if these stylists have never seen the Fab five – who never repaint a person as if it were an old bureau.
Go’kväll is a remnant from SVT history’s endless Café program. It is broadcast from Umeå and follows a proven method that big brother in Stockholm is probably trying, but shouldn’t, to get involved in.
I, big sister, shouldn’t do it either, so forgive, and seek forgiveness.
