The young people in Katakomb have invited the hyped Malmö band Svart Ridå, Agitator from Stockholm, the string-nosed poppers Pseudo and the latest addition to the local indie scene – Majbjörn.

Discover tomorrow’s stars in the Club Tent

The club tent is arranged by young people for young people. It is the music association Katakomb with the support of the municipality’s youth council SKUR that is behind the tent stage in the form of a circus tent. The bands will play there when there is a break on the main stage.

Black Curtain offers great emotions

Svart Ridå has been praised by, among others, PSL, Popmani, Hymn and Gaffa – both for their dark indie pop and their explosive live performances that attract more and more audiences. The trio recently released their debut album and their sound has evolved over the years to become even more guitar-based, with audible influences from both the 90s grunge wave and the freer pop music of the 70s. The band dares to face the really big emotions and cautious introductions blossom into epic choruses and solo parts.

Agitator makes post-punk in Swedish

The Stockholm band Agitator is coming back to Strängnäs after having two successful gigs at Katakomb in recent years. The music is organic and live, Agitator offers a party with high energy. The band refers to Joy Division, 22-Pistepirkko, Kingston, Olle Ljungström and The Cure when describing themselves. Do you agree? Come and make up your own mind on June 7.

Pseudo – Strängnäs’ court suppliers in indie pop

The band has toured to Stockholm, Västerås and Falun, among other places. They have played for Queen Silvia, who may not have been overly enamored per se, and are repeat favorites on home soil. During Katakomb’s concert nights at the Multeum, many Pseudofans are always seen wearing their coveted band shirts.
The arrangement is perhaps classic with drums, bass and guitars, but the singers Saga and Julian contribute their own expressions. They alternate songs in Swedish and English in the genre Strängnäspop if Pseudo themselves can decide. Last year’s gig at Sommarfest led to the longest line of people wanting to buy the band’s merchandise that the local newspaper’s dispatcher had ever seen.

Majbjörn is ready to take over the indie scene

If Cardigans met The Cure and started writing songs in Swedish, it would sound like Majbjörn from Strängnäs. The band that started as a trio has during the year expanded with two new members on drums and guitar. After the debut with the whole band on May 17 at Katakomb, Majbjörn is ready for his first festival performance.
