The new President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne are in Sweden on a two-day state visit starting Tuesday, April 23. From the King’s invitation: “To give us the opportunity to further strengthen the ties between our countries and peoples, it is an honor for the Queen and me to be able to invite Your Excellency and Mrs. Innes-Stubb to pay a state visit to Sweden on April 23-24 this year. “
The presidential couple has since taken office on the first of March this year had time for a couple of foreign visits but this is the first official state visit.
It will be a busy schedule with activities in both Stockholm and Gothenburg. Tuesday offers, among other things, a welcoming ceremony at the castle, a meeting with the Prime Minister and others, a speech in the Riksdag, a seminar and in the evening a gala dinner. Wednesday includes lunch with the governor of Västra Götaland, several important meetings, a detailed visit with demonstrations at Älvsborg’s amphibious regiment, etc.
