Those selected for the blockade are nurses, midwives, biomedical analysts and radiology nurses. The employers’ organization Sobona and Sweden’s municipalities and regions, SKR, have not managed to agree with the Vårdförbundet on a new healthcare agreement. This means that members of the care union are now being taken out of the blockade.

According to the Vårdförbundet, the issue is that healthcare employees should be able to recover. In addition, the union wants to achieve a long-term solution with shorter working hours, sustainable schedules and four weeks of continuous vacation in the summer.

“Our employees need recovery”

The number of members who are now being taken out of blockade in Stockholm is 8,000 people. They work, among other things, in psychiatry, geriatrics and in health centres. Employees at emergency hospitals and in the ambulance service are also taken out of the blockade.

Vårdförbundet’s members will not work overtime or overtime until they receive a new offer. But the employers point to the financially pressured situation in which the regions find themselves.

– Negotiations are based on two parties giving and taking and meeting in a constructive dialogue about possible solutions. Unfortunately, the Vårdförbundet has put more and more comprehensive demands on the table, says Sten Nordin from SKR’s negotiating delegation in a press release.
