– We said to each other that we won’t get the chance to do this again, says Zandra Nordin, chairman of the SPF Seniors Häggen Piteå and one of those who jumped into the water with a survival suit on after the icebreaker arranged a separate wake for the participants.
– You floated like a cork.
With only two days’ notice came the offer to go with the icebreaker Arctic Explorer, which usually breaks the ice chute in the Piteälven. One of the members is one of the owners of the company that owns the boat.
– When we were asked, it was a quick jerk. We also invited the sister association Rönnen, says Zandra Nordin.
As many as 70 members took up the offer and then everyone who wanted to could come along because the maximum limit was 80 people.
– It was a great day, sun and no wind. We were out for two hours and got to see when the boat broke up the ice, which at the time was 50 centimeters deep.

Another memorable one experience this winter was the trip to the wind farm a few miles inland that the two associations did together.
– It was awesome to see it so close. We saw wings lying on the ground and got to see what it looks like inside. We received very good information from the people who took care of us there as well.
The association wants to invest more in company visits. Not least to try to attract more men to do things.
– We have included in the business plan for 2024 to try to activate more men.
