Here is the “pump” at Hisingen that can be named the world’s best: “A real success story”

--

Circle K’s Vädermotet station at the Port of Gothenburg has been shortlisted as one of the world’s 10 best EV hubs. The competition is organized by Insight Search and Vontier, and aims to highlight the most outstanding and forward-thinking electric charging stations worldwide. Vädermotet is the only Swedish entry that made it to the final.

The station at Vädermotet opened in 2020 and was then the first of its kind in the Nordics and is built from a truck perspective with the aim of facilitating a green transition for heavy traffic in and around the Port of Gothenburg. Since it has been gradually expanded with charging for passenger cars and heavy vehicles. In 2022, the Nordics’ very first charger adapted for heavy traffic was inaugurated here and since then the pressure has been high and the occupancy even. The station is built from a lorry perspective in order to facilitate a green transition for heavy traffic in and around the Port of Gothenburg, and it is the investment in heavy traffic that is “the main advantage for Vädermotet” in the competition, the company says in a press release.

— This is a real success story. The weather has become exactly the hub for the conversion of heavy traffic that we hoped for, and this nomination is an important receipt that we are doing the right things, says Johan Söderberg, Director Fuel & E-mobility at Circle K.

One of the world’s most used chargers

The station in Vädermotet is one of the stations where the most kWh are charged, globally in the chain. In doing so, Circle K has acquired valuable lessons and exciting statistics when it comes to the behavior, needs and frequency of the heavy traffic.

— We dare to stick our chin out and say that our lessons from the Weather Trial have given us a recipe for success in how we can electrify heavy traffic. In combination with our huge investment in charging infrastructure for light traffic, we ensure that the transition has good conditions to be ahead of electric car development, concludes Söderberg.

Circle K Vädermotet is a full-service station with everything needed during the charging break, such as a wide range of food and drinks, as well as a shower and toilet, the company writes in the press release. There are currently six charging points for heavy vehicles, and in addition, fenced and camera-monitored security parking with space for around 40 trucks is offered. Every day, an average of 30 trucks are loaded at Vädermotet.
