Report from yesterday’s meeting in the district committee

--

One of the citizens’ proposals, which the district council rejected on Thursday evening, was about an activity aimed at young people in Rinkeby who neither work nor study.
– You are playing with our children, said an angry Mohamed Hagi Farah, who submitted the proposal.

The question of an initiative to reach young people between the ages of 16-29, who neither work nor study, the group is usually abbreviated UVAS, has come up on at least two previous occasions. Both the director and the board’s chairman have then verbally promised that such an activity would also be started in Rinkeby.

– Right now we have had peaceful times in Rinkeby, and we thank God for that, but it is now that we have to look for these young people, said Hagi Farah.

Before the end of the year, we will start up a business in Rinkeby

The answers from the chairman and the district director were many-worded, but difficult to understand. Rashid Mohamed (V) said several times that these young people “are a priority group of this majority”. And Victoria Callenmark promised once more that young people between the ages of 16 and 29 will be offered activities in Rinkeby.

– It is in our business plan, we will ensure it, we have work going on to find a solution for Rinkeby now, she said.

About why the board still rejected the citizens’ proposal, which was about exactly the same thing, she said:
– We are not saying no to the direction of the proposal, but we are not ready here and now. Before the end of the year, we will start up a business in Rinkeby.

3,000 young people have applied for summer jobs this year

The meeting at Tensta Träff was well attended and there were several questions from the citizens. As for summer jobs, it was announced that all 3,000 young people who have applied for summer jobs this year will get them.

The district director explained the question of why the administration has only managed to fill a third of the 900 inspection places allocated to Järva:
– We have had information efforts, and try-on activities, but are we doing enough? No, we have to continue to find new forms and we have had several conversations with various associations around Järva to see how more people will have an opportunity to go to Kollo.

We are citizens here in Sweden, and we have the right like everyone else to celebrate our culture

Several in the audience asked questions about the future of the Eritrean festival.
– We are Swedish Eritreans, citizens here in Sweden, and we have the right to celebrate our culture and show our culture. What are you going to do to make sure we can continue to have our festival here under safe conditions, one woman asked.

Chairman Rashid Mohamed (V) disclaimed all responsibility and said that “the committee has no control over this, it is the police who give permission and the decision does not rest with us”.

Ole-Jörgen Persson (M) said, just like at last month’s meeting, that he “will do everything to stop that festival”, because he believes that its purpose is “to support a dictatorship”.
