Karlstad municipality’s parking attendants observed when the undersigned intended to make a stupid maneuver and park the car quickly and temporarily at a curb where there was no parking space outside an address, just to bounce in and leave a document.

Since they observed me from a distance, and my bad conscience washed over me, I waved at them a little apologetically and of course went on to find a better parking spot a little further away that they wouldn’t be able to have a point of view. It took a while to put it mildly, and during that time I passed the same spot a couple more times and judging by my surprise when I drove past the first time, they were still there, but double parked and took up a whole lane!

I figured they must have put a parking ticket on some other driver’s car and happened to be out of their car to do this. I, together with the other motorists who passed, of course drove around them, but when I did this I saw that they, on the contrary, remained in the car and had a conversation, not that they fined anyone. At this point I was a bit pissed off as my original parking was along the curb and not blocking any traffic, but they were literally in the middle of the road, double parked.

Finding a parking space in the local area took time, I saw them sitting in their car the whole time I was looking in the local area. I ended up having to park a few blocks away and walk back. They were still in their car, double parked. After I left my documents, I came out again and they remained calm, but I, on the other hand, was not calm then but started to build up a little irritation, to put it mildly.

I went back to my car grumbling and then I thought that with all the time that had passed, they really shouldn’t be still sitting in the car? If you were to go and look one last time..? Yes, they sat there, but this time one of them went out and issued a parking ticket to one of the cars they had double-parked for a long time!

If I read on the municipality’s website, I can read that if I, as a road user, violate any of the existing parking rules, I can be issued a wrong parking fee, it is also clear how much the fee is. If you also see a car parked in a way that is dangerous to traffic, you can get in touch.

I understand that in the current traffic situation that exists in our city, the parking attendants may temporarily have to stand in violation of the rules. But what I don’t understand is how they can be illegally parked just to wait for a parking space to expire? Because hand on heart it’s exactly what they were waiting for, but next time I really hope they park in free parking spaces that are available just like the rest of us, because the time to look for the place they really seem to have.
