– We think it will go a little faster, says Lars Westman, department manager for the ambulance at the University Hospital in Uppsala.

In connection with the opening of Tullgarnsbron and the closing of Islandsbron to traffic other than emergency vehicles, public transport and taxis, traffic on Västra Ågatan will also become one-way.

– It will also make it easier for us, when it becomes easier to overtake, he says.

Important to avoid traffic jams

The ambulance has been involved in the planning of the new Tullgarn bridge, and according to the traffic measurements available, the new traffic flows will work for the ambulance.

– The primary thing for us is that there is no stoppage in traffic when we arrive on call. Then the seconds tick by very quickly. But the fact that you may have to slow down, especially in city traffic, we can live with that, says Lars Westman.

Tullgarnsbron is inaugurated today, Saturday 27 April.

In the clip, the ambulance manager talks about what the opening of the new Tullgarn Bridge will mean for the ambulance.
