The biological age has decreased in both men and women in all age groups. This means that people age more slowly today.

The biological age has decreased by four years

Men aged 60-79 showed the biggest improvements, with the group’s biological age falling by an average of four years from the 1990s to the 2000s.

One of the reasons is that people smoke less. In 2000, one in three adults in the world smoked, but the number of smokers had decreased to one in five by 2022.

In addition, the standard of living has generally improved in large parts of the world. In the past, many people lived a tiring existence, which led to higher biological age as well as shorter lifespans.
