Tour operator Detur cancels the entire charter season.
At the same time, there is chaos for Swedish charter tourists in Turkey who have been thrown out of their hotels.
But the company denies that it is behind a mysterious fax stating that it has been sold to a new owner.
Aftonbladet and several other media have reported on the chaos for Detur’s charter tourists in Alanya, Turkey this week. Several of them have been thrown out of their hotels with the explanation that Detour not paid for the rooms.
– It is chaos here, we are about 15 families in this hotel and it is a very upset atmosphere, said Jonny Haddad, one of those affected to Aftonbladet.
Norwegian and Danish tourists have also been affected. The confusion is now great about what is happening with the company.
All trips are cancelled
Now Detur announces that they are stopping all their operations for the rest of the year and all trips are canceled during the 2022 charter season to make a restart.
– Since it is about changes in the organization and in the organization’s processes, production and operational activities will be temporarily paused for a period. The rest of the 2022 charter season will be cancelled, the company writes in a statement published by SVT Nyheter.
According to the company, it has suffered from a series of problems recently, including the pandemic, airport strikes and price increases.
– We apologize for the inconvenience and problems this may cause for travelers, now that travelers will not be operated on, writes Detur.
Denies fax
At the same time, there are rumors that the company has been bought out. In a fax sent out to charter travelers, it is stated that it was sold to a “bigger company”.
According to the fax, all transactions have been paused and customers are being asked to pay for their rooms themselves. “Once the new owner has access to the transactions, you will get your money back,” it says.
Detur has not responded to reports of a buyout, but says it is not behind the mysterious fax, which it claims is a hoax.
The fact that you did not pay for hotel rooms in Turkey is also not true, according to the company.
Many have had their trips canceled following Detur’s announcement. In Sundsvall, a bus with 50 charter tourists was turned home, reports SVT Nyheter.
It is not the first time Detur has been in bad weather. Aftonbladet has previously reported on when a man died in a crash with the company’s tourist bus and when the company canceled Christine and Martin’s wedding trip.
