Wednesday was a great day for the Swedish medal hopes ahead of the Olympic sailing in Marseille this summer. In the 470 class, Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson top the results lists and as for Bobeck/Netzler, they are now in second place.
The World Cup sailing in Hyeres is in full swing and Wednesday turned out to be a real top day for some of Sweden’s top medal hopefuls ahead of the Olympics in Paris this summer. This week’s sailings also take place in waters approximately 40 nautical miles from where the Olympic sailings take place this summer.
At the top of the results list for 470 you find none other than Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson.
– We found the right pace in the decision-making process and dared a little more than usual at the start. The feeling is that we worked with our objectives and it is going in the right direction. Always fun when the sailing is right like it did today, says Anton Dahlberg.
The focus going forward is on making the oh-so-important starts and trusting each other.
Better and better in the 49er class
The start of the 49erFX competitions didn’t quite go the way of Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler. But after hard work in the coming races, the duo has still managed to climb up the results list.
The opposition is also the best imaginable as all of those who start (a total of nine boats) are also the ones ready for the competitions in Marsellie.
– It can look silly in the results list with only nine boats. But the racing is tough, which makes it a lot of fun, says Rebecca and continues:
– It is definitely more like the Olympics than, for example, a race at the WC. But we are still ten boats short, which makes a difference. The best training, however, is before the medal race, to dare to attack more boat to boat and sail more aggressively.
