Canada got off to a lively start and scored two quick goals. After 03.40 they broke the score on Småkronorna through Jett Luchanko and already after 09.15 came the second, through Malcolm Spence.

But Sweden achieved a rapid reduction. At 11.33, Sweden scored 2-1 through Melvin Fernström. The goals in the first period did not stop there, but it was full of goals. Gavin McKenna got two pucks in before the final whistle for the first.

In the second period, Sweden caught up, and Alexander Zetterberg put in two pucks that gave the score 4-3 to Canada. But the equalizer never came and Canada eventually won 6-3, after Matthew Schaefer and Carson Wetsch scored, the latter coming in an empty net.

At the end of the second period, at 36.32, Canada’s Roger McQueen received a match penalty for a leg tackle.

Alexander Zetterberg accounted for points on all Sweden’s goals, and thus scored three points.

Sweden plays the next match on Saturday against Kazakhstan.
