For those who have not gotten their Fujifilm camera to work as a webcam when connected to a Mac computer with MacOS 14.1 or later, there is now a solution. Fujifilm has updated the software for its Webcam X plug-in, which now supports Sonoma and the first security update, 14.1.

The support existed and worked in version 14.0, but when Apple released its security update to MacOS Sonoma, i.e. from version 14.0 to 14.1, stricter requirements were introduced for the software that manages the cameras and the hardware via the UVC interface.

One reason is, among other things, that a green dot should always appear in the operating system and that the lamp should light up when the computer’s webcam is either on or an external camera connected to the computer is used.

Many thought that the update would be released already in connection with the newly released Fujifilm X100VI as well as several other of Fujifilm’s cameras receiving their firmware updates at the beginning of April.

The updated version of Fujifilm X Webcam 2.2.0 can be found here.
