According to information from DigiTimes, it appears that at least one new model of the Apple Watch will start using copper coated with resin. This means that a thin layer of copper foil is covered with a resin such as epoxy, which provides several advantages for the circuit board in future Apple Watches — such as better durability and water resistance. A big bonus is that it makes the circuit board thinner, freeing up more space internally for more components and sensors.

The extra space is super important as Apple continues to implement new health-related features into the watch. The upcoming models, which are expected to be released later this year, are rumored to have blood pressure measurement, among other things. Apple is also working on developing technology to measure blood sugar in a non-invasive way.

It is still uncertain about the next Apple Watch lineup. It is unclear whether the redesigned “Apple Watch X” will appear this year or next. Rumors also say that there may not be an Apple Watch Ultra 3 this year. A new Apple Watch SE seems likely if Apple sticks to its two-year cycle for that model.
