A bottlenose dolphin has been found dead on a beach in Louisiana.

On March 13, a private citizen found a dead dolphin on a beach near New Orleans, Louisiana. Most notably, the bottlenose dolphin had been shot.

The dolphin had “several shots in the body, including in the brain, spine and heart” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

“The animal appears to have died from the trauma that occurred at or near the moment of death”writes the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Offers a reward of NOK 218,000

The authorities are offering a reward of SEK 218,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator.

Killing or harming dolphins is prohibited by US law.

If you are guilty of this, you can be sentenced to one year in prison and 1.1 million kroner in fines.
