A court in Bucharest ruled on Friday that the legal criteria for a trial are sufficient, but the court did not set a date for the trial. It has previously been reported that it could take several years before a verdict is handed down.

Human trafficking

Andrew Tate was detained, along with his brother Tristan and two women, in Romania in December 2022.

According to the indictment, which came in the summer of 2023, in 2021 they started a criminal activity to carry out human trafficking mainly in Romania, but also in countries such as the United States and Great Britain, the BBC wrote.

The prosecutor singles out a total of seven suspected victims who are said to have been recruited by the Tate brothers with the help of false promises of love and marriage. Andrew Tate is also accused of raping one of the victims.

Also facing charges in Great Britain

In the event that the Tate brothers are convicted in a Romanian court, they could be extradited to the UK where they are accused of sexual offenses allegedly committed between 2012 and 2015.

In March 2024, it was discovered that the brothers were planning to flee the country. After that, the brothers were arrested.

All defendants deny the allegations.
