The largest donation ever to Stockholm Concert Hall has been announced – SEK 100 million. The money comes from Erling-Persson Foundation and must, as it says, “support the fine and diverse activities that are conducted in the Concert Hall, and enable the investments that the Concert Hall Foundation wishes to carry out before the jubilee season 2026/2027.”

Stefan Perssonchairman of the board of the Erling-Persson Foundation comments:

– Konserthuset Stockholm and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra are, through their long history, one of Stockholm’s important meeting places where different sectors of society can meet and connect.

– The concert hall as a building is a unique treasure from the 1920s which must be taken care of and maintained in the best way for the enjoyment of future generations as well. Here, children and young people can enjoy fantastic music free of charge, here different generations with different backgrounds come together around common musical experiences and in this way make new contacts for the future.

During the 2026–2027 season, the Concert Hall turns 100 years old, at the same time as Royal Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its 125th anniversary; the orchestra was founded in 1902 with the name Stockholm Concert Association Orchestra and with Thor Aulin as chief conductor for the first eight years. Between 1957 and 1992 it was called Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
