The A-teens took the world by storm around the turn of the millennium with modern versions of Abba’s classics and were even a cover for Britney Spears in the US in 2000. The band was originally called Abba-teens but had to change its name to avoid confusion with the original band.

In 2004 they released the album “Greatest” hits and announced the same year that they are taking a break.

In this year’s Mellofinal, they made a grand comeback after 20 years. Fans then traveled from all over the world to see the band reunite.

The words to Amit: “You can probably stand a little behind”

In the new SVT documentary “A-teen’s reconciliation” a new, darker side of the band emerges. The members then reveal the conflicts behind the scenes and the rift that occurred in the band. Amit Paul tells us that he “never got to be in the center” without the focus falling on Dhani Lennevald.

– I want to be a singer and artist and to constantly be chosen. It was Dhani who got to sing the verse. “You can probably be a little behind”. For me, all those comments became personal, says Amit in the documentary.

– To hear this is so interesting because I never experienced it like that, says Dhani then.

Sara: “I don’t think I’m pretty”

Sara Lumholdt also has similar experiences around Marie Serneholt, where she felt that she often ended up being overshadowed by her. In the documentary, they read out several quotes from various newspaper articles, including one where Sara makes a statement about Marie.

“I don’t think Marie likes me. She’s probably had it pretty much served”she reads aloud, then tells us that she thinks the words came from wanting more attention but not getting it.

– I didn’t feel good about the situation. How it affected me emotionally and with performance anxiety. It has to do with “I don’t think I’m pretty”, says Sara, and both she and Marie then fall into tears when they talk about that time.

– I didn’t have the ability to understand that then. But I can understand how you must have felt Sara when we are at a photo shoot and take pictures and I was the one who was chosen, she says and wipes away the tears and also takes Sara’s hand.

– It is incredibly sad that it happened that way. I can understand that she was sad. I had become that too, says Marie in the documentary.

The documentary “A-teens förssoningen” is in two parts and is available on SVT Play.
