Talks about the mistake: “Feels a little sour”

John Ajvide Lindqvist signed a piece of paper without reading it first.

It cost him the film and television rights to “Let the Right One In”.

– When the story was going to be made into a film in the US, I sold the rights for a krone, he tells TT.

Never sign a contract without reading it first.

His debut novel “Let the Right Come in”, which was released almost 20 years ago, has now become an American TV series on Showtime and previously the book has also been made into a film in the USA, then with Chloë Grace Moretz in the role of the vampire girl in 2010.

But now it turns out that it is not something that John Ajvide Lindqvist makes money from at all.

– I have had nothing to do with it, he tells TT about the TV series.

Thought it was a formality

He continues.

– When the story was to be made into a film in the US, I sold the rights for a penny and signed a paper that I thought was just a formality. I didn’t have an agent at the time.

– It turned out that through this I had sold off all rights. So I haven’t had anything to do with it, which feels a bit sad, it’s my name, it’s my book. The only thing I’ve seen is the trailer, where there is some from the book and otherwise it’s general vampire nonsense.

Aftonbladet has applied for John Ajvide Lindqvist.
