The question is whether the right-wing coalition Samling för Ronneby can continue to govern together. The trust of the Christian Democrats is damaged and the Sweden Democrats are “shaking”.
According to information to SVT, the Liberals are divided on the trust issue.
At the beginning of the week, the Moderate parties are holding their own crisis meetings to decide the way forward.
Can demand that Fredriksson be poked
A majority in Ronneby’s municipal council requires 25 mandates. The board (M, SD, KD and L) today gathers a majority of 26 mandates.
If the government breaks with the Moderates, 17 mandates remain – and a weak minority government.
Alternatively, the rest of the board makes a sharp demand on the Moderates for continued cooperation:
– In order to continue in the coalition, the other parties can demand that the Moderates replace the chairman of the municipal board, says Erik Wångmar, political scientist at Linnaeus University.
Disaffected moderates can become political savages
The opposition’s largest party, the Social Democrats, has 15 seats. Together with the Left Party, the Center Party and the Ronneby Party, they collect 22 mandates.
Together with bourgeois L and KD, they get a majority.
– But it would be widespread, Wångmar points out.
Another option is for dissatisfied moderates to keep their seats in the council and seek new collaborations.
Path selection for C and MP
Another question mark is which side the Green Party will choose in the event of a possible change of power.
Will they change their position as an opposition party to a collaboration with the Moderates, given group leader Lova Necksten’s (MP) relationship with Roger Fredriksson (M)?
Even the Center Party – with three council seats – can have a decisive role in a new government.
– My assessment is that there is reason to distrust Roger Fredriksson. But I don’t know what role the Center Party will have going forward, we did not anticipate this development and have not discussed what it means, says Hillevi Andersson, member of the council.
