The French sports chain continues to shrink in Sweden and is now closing its store in Uppsala. This leaves only the Mall of Scandinavia store.

Decathlon has not really taken off in Sweden. In September last year, the French sports chain announced that two of their stores, the one in Kungens Kurva and the one in Barkarby, would be closed. Then only two stores remained, one in Mall of Scandinavia and one in Boländerna in Uppsala.

Now it is clear that the latter store will also be closed. The property owner there is Svenska Handelsfastigheter.

The chain, which has around 2,000 stores in 60 countries, had big plans for Sweden ever since 2011 when they opened their first store in Bromma. At that time, the goal was to open in all Swedish regional cities.

But the current economic situation in the world has forced the company to reorganize and focus on only a couple of stores and e-commerce.
