The Swedish Transport Administration is now starting the summer paving works. Nine miles of road on 13 different stretches of road in Västmanland are to be improved.

13 worn sections of Västmanland’s road network will be resurfaced this summer. This means that old asphalt is replaced with new to ensure that the road becomes safe, comfortable and safe to drive on, writes the Swedish Transport Administration in a press release.

For some roads there has long been a need and several roads are particularly important for heavy transport and commuters.

– There is a great need for maintenance on our roads. It always feels good when we can do work that will make a difference. This winter, with large temperature changes that also changed very quickly, has increased the need for our efforts out on the roads, says Lennart Westin, project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Most of the work will be carried out during June, July and August. It is difficult to know in advance exactly when the road works will be carried out. It depends, for example, on the weather and that the work sometimes has to be prioritized again due to unforeseen events.

– Drive carefully and reduce speed at road works – everyone has to get home from work, says Lennart Westin.

These include a stretch of one kilometer on E18 between Skälby and Bäckby, a stretch of 11 kilometers between Västerås and Sagån and a stretch of 18 kilometers on road 56 between Västerås and Sala.
