Region Uppsala prepared to handle the blockade

--

At 16:00, the Vårdförbundet’s blockade came into effect. Region Uppsala’s analysis shows that the blockade has an extensive impact on care in the county. At the same time, the Region works to ensure that the impact on patients is as small as possible.

– Our goal is that the impact on the patients should be as small as possible. If you are seriously ill, you must seek treatment. If booked operations or visits are postponed, the care will contact you via telephone or 1177.se on the same day as the operation or visit would have taken place, says Johan Lugnegård, chief physician of the University Hospital.

Before the blockade came into force, Region Uppsala has carried out a comprehensive analysis of all operations to get a picture of how the blockade against overtime and overtime as well as new hires is affected and what can, and must, be done to maintain safe and high-quality care .

– If the blockade becomes prolonged, healthcare resources may have to be concentrated on urgent operations and treatments to avoid danger to life and health, says Johan Lugnegård.

Since healthcare cannot take in employees in the event of an emergency absence, such as when an employee falls ill or needs to be at home with a sick child, there is a risk of a deteriorating work environment for those on duty, including responsibility for more patients.

– Other professional groups, which are not covered by the conflict, risk having to work more and with a higher load, It is not a matter of course that we can relocate personnel. But we work to be able to maintain a good working environment and to limit the impact on patients, says Sofia Birk, HR director, Region Uppsala.

Region Uppsala has produced information for managers and employees about the blockade, and on Thursday afternoon a special meeting was held with the opportunity for affected managers to ask questions of the region’s HR employees and administrative managers.
