Kalmar FF is last in the Allsvenskan table after five rounds played. This after they lost on Thursday at home against the newcomer Gais, with 3-2. The Småland team has now lost four of its opening five matches – and with Västerås winning at the same time, it doesn’t want any better than to park in last place.

It was Gais who started the match best and they also took the lead in the first half through Jonas Lindberg. Lindberg took advantage of a big challenge in Kalmar’s defense and calmly rolled in the lead goal.

Before the break, however, the equalizer came through Jacob Trenskow, who found a gap at the near post with his left foot.

At half-time, 19-year-old Amin Boudri was replaced by Gais – and he would have a key role. It was he who in a very elegant way curled in 2-1 for the visitors, with his right foot, close to Samuel Brolin’s left post.

With a few minutes left to play, Alexander Ahl extended Holmtröm’s dream to 3-1 – and then it didn’t help that Lars Sætra reduced stoppage time; the match ended with victory for the guests, 3-2.

– Absolutely terrible. I’ve never been to a worse match. Fully deserved that Gais wins. It is under all criticism. Miserably bad. Shit bad, says Kalmar’s Lars Sætra to Discovery+.

– Especially the first half is awful. If we continue like this, we will play in the super league next year.

Newcomer Gais is now in fourth place in the Allsvenskan table. Goal scorer Amin Boudri, who replaced an injured Jonas Lindberg at halftime:

– He had done well so I thought I had to come in and fill his place, he tells Discovery+.

– We have good team chemistry, a good aura in the team.

In the upcoming round, Gais will meet Gais away from home at the same time as Kalmar travel to Blekinge for a match against Mjällby.
