– If we can do something in this project to improve heredity investigations, it will mean a lot to many women, says Daniel Eriksson, doctor of clinical genetics at the University Hospital.
The project was awarded the Breast Cancer Association’s research grant in 2023 and thus received SEK 340,000. In total, the association granted grants of approximately SEK 14 million during the year. The grants went to projects such as “will contribute with patient benefits for those affected by breast cancer in the near future.”
Hope to be able to detect tumors earlier
The goal of the project is to give people at risk of breast cancer the right care, by studying several conditions at the same time. In doing so, they hope to be able to get an overall picture of a patient’s risk of developing breast cancer.
– With the new method, you can measure that, for example, sisters have different degrees of heredity with the help of a blood test, says Daniel Eriksson.
