The game updated on all platforms, mostly on PS5 and Xbox Series.

It took a while, but now it has Fallout 4 received the long-promised “next-gen” update. It contains free news and changes for all versions of the game, but the most interesting ones are for PS5 and Xbox Series (yep, they’re still called “next-gen”).

On these you can choose between the graphics modes Performance and Quality. Higher resolutions are offered, with a framerate of “up to” 60 frames per second. Which should probably be interpreted as not being a constant 60 fps. Bug fixes and other improvements are also promised.

On PC, support for (ultra) widescreen displays is added, plus the mandatory stability and bug fixes. Problems with mods and quests are also fixed. Furthermore, Steam Deck support is added and the game starts to be sold on the Epic Store, in addition to Steam, Gog and the Windows store.

The old consoles, finally, also get a bunch of bug fixes.

The entire changelog.

The update has been long overdue, but the timing could hardly have been better: the game series has millions of players after being lured back by the attention of Amazon’s TV series Fallout (read our review). Nice work, Bethesda.

Don’t miss our old one either Fallout 4-review.
