Last year it was CSKA Moscow who together with a Swedish duo won the Gagarin Cup.

Now Robin Press has also become a champion in Russia, according to Sportbladet’s information, his new KHL contract is now complete.

Last season, four Swedes played in the Russian ice hockey league KHL.

This despite the criticism directed at several Swedish players who remained in the country after the invasion of Ukraine.

Before this season, defender Robin Press also changed clubs from Severstal Cherepovets to Metallurg Magnitogorsk. It was with them that he became Russian champion on Tuesday evening.

After that, the 29-year-old was praised on the KHL’s official account in social media, where the Swede can be seen lifting the trophy.

Praised by the KHL

“Robin Press, you are the Gagarin Cup champion!”they write in the post that contains a Swedish flag.

Now it also looks like it will be a fourth season for Press, who was named one of the best players in the final series, in Russia. According to Russian media, he is close to an extension with Metallurg and also according to Sportbladet’s information, the new agreement is ready.

– There is an agreement to extend the contract. We want it for two years, but we’ll see how the negotiations go, says Metallurg’s sporting director Sergej Gomoljako, according to TASS.

Previously, he has represented Djurgården and Färjestad in Sweden, among other things.
