Katsura Hashinowho was previously responsible for classics such as Personas 4 and Shin Megami Tensei IIIpresents in this video Atlus’ latest project: Metaphor: ReFantazio! He begins by confirming the game’s release date, which has been added to October 11, 2024. The game will be released for both consoles as well as for PC and can be wishlisted on, for example, Steam.

Furthermore, he explains that just like with the Persona series, visual design, not least in the menus, is important to them, so that players get as pleasant an experience as possible. And I have to agree with Hashino on that, the menus and UI in Metaphor: ReFantazio looks incredibly beautiful!

The rest of the video is a preview of the different systems in the Metaphor: ReFantazio and how they differ from Atlus’ previous RPGs. For example, quick attacks and dodges allow you to clean up easier enemies without having to switch to a turn-based battle – all to make the gaming experience more nimble. More difficult enemies, on the other hand, you need to defeat in traditional turn-based battles.

The heroes use something similar to the characters in Persona, but in this game are called Archetypes. These give the heroes traits and skills associated with the respective Archetype. For example Mage can use magic spells and Thief can use Steal. But the best news is that every single hero in your party can switch Archetypes – a drastic difference from the Persona series where only the main character can switch personas.
