The police’s intelligence activities are an essential part of the police’s core activities. The intelligence operation is the branch of activity within the police that produces knowledge about criminal environments and criminal phenomena.

Intelligence activities in Region Syd are conducted in all local police areas, police areas and at regional level. You will work at intelligence section 2 located in Malmö and in an intelligence group consisting of case managers and analysts. The business focus of the current group relates to domestic extremism with both a regional and local responsibility.

Job description

The Regional Intelligence Unit works i.a. with obtaining, processing, analyzing and sharing intelligence and information about criminal environments and criminal phenomena. Operations are conducted in collaboration with other functions within the organization but also require independent and goal-oriented work.

Current duties are intelligence-wise to handle ideologically motivated crime within the areas of activity in the violent Islamist environment, violent right-wing and left-wing extreme environment and acting alone with the aim of preventing, preventing and detecting criminal activity. The operation is led by a group leader.

These areas of activity include, among other things:

  • Processing, collection and analysis of intelligence information.
  • Mapping criminal actors and their crime.
  • Assess and draw conclusions about the development of events in the current extremist environments.
  • Produce and share documentation in the form of situational images and problem images.
  • Produce documentation that constitutes decision support for the police area’s management and other designated functions prior to decisions on operational measures.
  • Write documents for operational matters and conduct intelligence matters.
  • Be the point of contact for all of the Police Authority’s collaboration partners.


This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Police degree or academic degree that the employer deems relevant
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish and English languages, both oral and written
  • Swedish B driving license for manual cars

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience of similar tasks and/or analysis work
  • Experience with covert restraints
  • Experience of cooperation between authorities
  • Analysis training that is deemed relevant by the employer
