Portugal further – after Ronaldo’s ghost goal: “Should be his goal”

--

On Monday evening, Portugal qualified for the round of 16 in the World Cup. They beat Portugal 2–0.

The lead goal came in the 54th minute and looked to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s. He tried to head in a cross from Bruno Fernandes, the ball went into the goal and the star went out towards the corner flag to celebrate.

On the replays it is difficult to see if Ronaldo touches the ball or not.

However, Daniel Nannskog is safe.

– He was on it. He touches the ball. He should get this goal, it should be Ronaldo’s goal, says the expert.

Uruguay pressed

First, the goal was awarded to Ronaldo. Later it was changed to Bruno Fernandes.

– As a former goalscorer, I understand how much it means to Ronaldo. He also clearly shows when he leaves the plane that he was on it, says Nannskog.

In stoppage time, Fernandes became a two-goal scorer, when he made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

– A good match from us. A really difficult match. Uruguay is a good team, very aggressive and compact. They played with five defenders so it was difficult to score, but I think we played a really good game, says Neves.

The victory means that Portugal has two straight victories and is therefore ready for the play-offs.

– It is unbelievable. We have reached our first goal, but we have one more game in the group and we want to win it.

Uruguay remain on one point and are forced to beat Ghana in the final round to advance.
