As of reference year 2023, there have been changes to the Investment Survey’s target object, the statistical unit business unit (VE) that is implemented in Statistics Sweden’s business register (FDB). Realized and planned investments, collected from units classified as auxiliary activities, are entered in the statistics to the branch of the unit they serve. See more information at:

The economic-statistical system

To facilitate quarterly comparisons between reference year 2022 and reference year 2023, the results of the investment survey for reference year 2022 have been calculated using a model to reflect the changes, see the statistical presentation and the quality declaration for more information.

The population frame is taken from Statistics Norway’s business database. Companies with at least 200 employees are fully investigated. Companies with between 20 and 199 employees are examined through a sample. Companies with 10-19 employees in the industrial sector are estimated based on investment data from companies with 20-49 employees. For certain industries, companies with between 5 and 199 employees are sampled.

The industries included in the survey are department SNI 05-49 (excl. 49.32), 51-53, 58, 61-63, 64.1, 65, 68 (excl. 68.204), 71-75 and 77-82 according to the Swedish Business Sector Classification SNI2007 .
