Denmark has done it – again.
They beat France in the final and took their third straight World Cup gold.
A feat no other nation has managed on the men’s side.
Denmark once again showed that they are the world’s best handball nation on the men’s side. They kicked off the WC final at the Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm and overwhelmed the French in attack after attack. Admittedly, it took until the final minutes before the decisive move came, but Denmark led the game from start to finish and won 34–29.
Lauge hero
The great hero was Rasmus Lauge.
Before the final, the 31-year-old, who had injury problems and missed the start of the tournament, had only played a total of 23 minutes, taking three finishes and missing all of them.
In the final, he scored ten goals in eleven finishes.
In 27 minutes of playing time.
– For hell, man! From when I was on my way home to standing here now as the best in the world…, says Hauge afterwards and can barely get the words out.
Historic feat
This was Denmark’s 28th consecutive World Cup match without a loss.
– Oh, oh, oh, how good they are Denmark. Unbelievably good, says expert Claes Hellgren in TV6.
No other nation on the men’s side has won three straight World Cup golds.
