LES ROUSSES. After the finish in the victory race, Ebba Andersson was disturbed by a nearby cameraman.

She eagerly waved the camera away, which the newspaper Expressen noticed.

– I thought there were more exciting things to film than when I changed, says the skier to Sportbladet.

Ebba Andersson has missed almost two months of the World Cup due to a period of illness.

Now she is back and with a message.

On Friday, she won the freestyle mile race in Les Rousses, France, by 13 seconds. After the finish, the American Jessie Diggins was replaced in the winner’s seat in the finish area.

But the moment in the chair was not only pleasant. When the Swede was about to change into dry, warm clothes, she realized that she was being filmed. A cameraman came close but was waved away by an irritated Ebba Andersson.

“He did as I said”

The pictures were never shown in Viaplay’s broadcast from Les Rousses, but were noticed by Expressen, which published a picture of the Swede waving at the cameraman during the changeover.

– I thought there were more exciting things to film than when I changed, says Ebba Andersson to Sportbladet afterwards.

Did you get any reaction from him?

– He did as I said.

How did you feel in terms of privacy when the camera appeared?

– I’m not that concerned, I was more just “this isn’t that interesting, film the race instead”.

Already several years ago, several female skiers roared at nearby cameras in the finish area. After that, there have been fewer similar situations.

– It has been an ongoing discussion. I don’t know who is responsible for production here, it’s a new World Cup location we’re in, but there should still be similar rules of conduct everywhere, says Ebba Andersson.

“They shouldn’t film”

The Swedish women’s coach Stefan Thomson did not know about the incident when Sportbladet told him, but takes it very seriously and will talk to Ebba Andersson.

Possibly, he will raise the problem at tonight’s team management meeting.

– I don’t think that should happen. They should not film when they change. I will see how she experienced it and if we should raise it, says Thomson.

For several years now, the Swedish national team management has chosen not to let the media film when the skaters are strength training because of recent images where the skaters’ bodies were exposed and in focus.
